We Are Seeking

A proactive Data & Analytics Engineer to join our lean data team. In this mid-level role, you’ll maintain and enhance reporting in SQL and PowerBI, implement end-to-end ETL pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, and  consult stakeholders to shape and deliver requirements, project plans, and data extracts. Ideal candidates have solid data engineering experience and strong data-analysis skills and are eager to tackle everything from database management to developing a customer data model.

Job Description

Role Overview
As a Data & Analytics Engineer in IT, you’ll partner with the Data Lead, Senior Data Engineer and Data Analyst to deliver actionable insights, streamline processes, and uphold data quality across NobleOak’s analytics platform. You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Reporting & Analytics
    • Develop, maintain and optimise SQL stored procedures and views, Power BI reports, SSRS, and paginated Fabric reports.
    • Gather business requirements and translate them into new or enhanced SQL stored procedures, views and tables.
    • Provide ad‑hoc data quickly and accurately to business units such as Marketing, Sales, Client Services, Finance, Risk & Compliance, and Actuarial.
  • Database Management
    • Maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouses.
    • Maintain data ingestion SSIS packages for on-premises‑premises SQL Server.
    • Assist the Senior Data Engineer in maintaining and enhancing our metadata driven‑driven ETL framework and pipelines in Microsoft Fabric.
    • Translate business requirements into logical, relational data models, aligning database structures with reporting and analytics needs.
  • Stakeholder Management & Project Planning
    • Learn key source systems, their relationships, and the value of their data for different stakeholders.
    • Help stakeholders understand and refine their requirements into actionable work for the data team.
    • Champion Agile methodology, including sprint planning through Epics, User Stories, and Tasks.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Data Engineer to produce technical documentation that bridges high‑level stakeholder requirements with actionable technical designs.
  • Data Governance & Documentation
    • Maintain the technical solution used to measure data quality across critical data elements.
    • Produce and maintain clear documentation for pipelines, procedures and models.
  • Team Support, Development & Mentorship
    • Learn from and support the Senior Data Engineer in the areas of data architecture, security configuration, and data modelling.
    • Apply AI productively and safely at work.
    • Mentor data analysts on tools, processes, and development standards.
    • Share team responsibilities such as reviewing work, hosting huddles, and creating tickets.

  • 3 – 5 years SQL experience, in particular translating complex logic into stored procedures.
  • Good understanding of ETL design patterns and Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Factory.
  • Proven experience building and optimising Power BI reports and semantic models.
  • Experience maintaining SQL Server and cloud databases (SSIS, ADF pipelines).
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric/Databricks, Data Governance, and Azure DevOps CI/CD.
  • Experience with Python and object orientated programming.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT or related field.
  • 2–5 years in data engineering or analytics roles, preferably within financial services or technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Bonus: Relevant certifications (Fabric Data Analytics Engineer Associate, Fabric Data Engineer Associate, etc).
